I would like to say thank you to a true child of God and my sister in Christ, Anne Mills. The help and ongoing help she and Overcomes House has provided me, means the world. I last Friday morning, without going into a whole lot of detail I was turned away at the Salvation Army downtown Atlanta and was told the only beds available were paid beds. The Atlanta mission, had no beds available and told me to come back on Monday. My next call was to Anne at Overcomes House. She set a 1pm appointment got me through the intake process very quickly and into a hotel and off the street. She is continuing to work with me on getting my section 8 while I am waiting to hear from the social security administration regarding my disability case. Ain't God good!won't he do it? And Anne you are an angel of the Lord! I am truly grateful 🙏.
I'm sure this outreach program was created to serve the community in a lot of ways but leadership needs to change. The director of this program has lost her way and is lacking in simple compassion, empathy and care. She take on the attitude the the program is her personal property as she picks and chooses who can be served and if or when a person has need or are deserving of that need. This is un Christian like. She needs to step down so someone who is not jaded can serve. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Overcomers is a food pantry and more. They assist with utilities and job placement. There's a thrift store with a variety of products. Ms. Ann and her staff are very nice and helpful. Very very orderly.
Most of the staff is welcoming. Ive been trying to get assistance with them for the past two years. I've gotten approved with them however, have not gotten placed anywhere. My daughter passed leaving me with her children. Every time I called, line was busy, if I showed up, I was met with anger that I showed up. There was no urgency to provide clarity. My experience is that most people and agencies put up the facade to be for the community and have no problem with making sure you know they can care not . I appreciate this experience because it shows where a true distain to help the people who is in need is noticable in our own community I just hope more truth about these orgs get exposed. Exposure is the only way to bring about change.
The rating that I gave is for Mrs. Anne. She needs to be replaced. She is really unorganized and nasty. She skips over people and say they weren't in their cars . It's happened to me and others while I've been there. She's been addressed by many and she still does the same thing. She sometimes turn new people away that tries to register because she's short of help after they have been waiting for hours to get food. This Saturday free clothes were given out so she told people to go inside, then she passes out numbers while people are inside and skips over cars if you are not in them because she told people to go inside. This is not God's work Mrs.Anne when you're doing things like this. Fix your demeanor and the way you do things or you'll be replaced. I am reporting you as well because too many people need help and this is how you treat them. Replying to you: God knows whose lying. The other reviews that have given you a 1 star is telling the truth too. Everyone has different experiences and I'm sharing mine. When I am standing in line to get registered you have told new people to come back another day after waiting for hours because you are short of help to get them registered. That's not Godly Mrs. Anne
Have you ever felt overwhelmed when thinking about all the major problems in the world? If so, maybe this will resonate with you. We decided to focus on doing 1 specific good thing monthly and inviting close friends/family to participate. Why? Because it’s much less overwhelming to focus on something we can actually control. So would you be willing to help us turn a random good thing into a normal good thing? If so…please consider participating in the Invest Love Project!
